Dear Fellow Xtreme Owners

Since owning my car I’ve had issues with the headlight brackets bending and snapping, I’ve struggled to get any replacements so after breaking one again a couple of weeks ago and smashing the headlight I’ve decided to design a replacement set machined from a solid piece of aluminium.

Attached are some photos of the prototype bracket compared to the original and also fitted to my car.  The prototype is bare aluminium but the final version will be anodised black to match the suspension..

You’ll see the new bracket is quite a bit more substantial than the original but it only weights circa 40g more, so only 80g addition to the car in total.

If anyone is having similar problems and is interested in pair of these brackets I can get a price to have some more made up, I think they will be around £25 a pair.

Cheers

Mark

Hey Mark, these look like the really early headlight mounts. I’m struggling to find a decent photo of mine, but they have a tubular stainless tube horizontal, with an upright tube section welded to the end.

Your solution is clearly better than your original - nice work.

Ian

You're right Ian, Mark's were the original type ones, basically some flattened tube, which were prone to breaking. They upgraded around 2000 to a tube with a vertical tube piece welded on the end.
I didn't like the look of the cable coming out, so made some where the cable runs inside the bracket - I did an article in Quantum Mechanics several years back.
