After our initial setup, Zach from AbleGamers had sent us a list of profiles, Julian (Quadstick user) had seen a game profile for Red Dead Redemption and wanted to try it, so we'd loaded it on the Quadstick via the QMP like Zach had showed us with the Dead Cells game profile.  Julian switched into that profile and attempted playing, but said the controls were difficult and when I looked at that game file more closely, I realized that that profile is setup for PS4 controls, not Xbox- not sure if this is relevant.
A few weeks after setup when we plugged the Quadstick into the Xbox, it did not do anything; it doesn't move through the menus, nothing.  We made sure it was on the 2nd game profile (Dead Cells), but it did not change.  We plugged it into the QMP and when it read it, there was a message that stated "Quadstick launched/loaded in PS4 mode"- not sure if that is relevant either.  In Misc settings, per one of the videos Zach had sent us, it had mentioned taking off the "launch in PS4 setting"- so we tried that.  Then the Quadstick started acting as a computer mouse while plugged into his laptop.  We plugged it into the Xbox, thinking that might have been the solution, but when plugged in, the controls were hypersensitive and flipping through menus and zooming wildly and repeatedly, so we plugged back into the QMP and changed it back.  Lastly, we deleted the Red Dead profile from the Quadstick, but to no avail- it still did nothing when plugged into the Xbox and on the Dead Cells profile.

The Quadstick cannot be used directly with an XBox console.  It must be connected through a USB adapter, like a Mayflash Magic-X or a Brook Wingman XB3, though there are others.

The best settings for most adapters is "Enable Boot in PS4 USB mode" on and "Titan Two PS4 flag"

These were the settings the quadstick was shipped with.   Those settings are compatible with the widest variety of adapters.

Playstation and XBox controllers mostly have the same buttons, just with different names:  https://quadstick.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/user_manual/um/selecting_output_names_for_playstation_and_xbox.htm

First person shooters are probably not the best game choice for new users.  When the player needs to spend time thinking about their next move, their character will spend a lot of time respawning.  A turn based game, or a puzzle solving game that allows plenty of time figure out which hole to sip/puff, or mode to be in, will be less frustrating.  Play something like for a week or two, get familiar the concepts and operation of the quadstick, then they will be ready to take on something more demanding.

Minecraft, Lego games, Rocket League, or driving games would be worth looking at.

The Discord channel has a lot of user-helping-user activity.
