FTM-400dr - how to get packet data into QTH.app

Hi 

Anyone know if there is a way to make a connection to the Yaseu FTM-400dr to get the packet data to display.  I have the radio set to output Packets.  Yaesu doesn't allow access to the built in TNC but will output packet data via USB interface.  The connection options don't seem to fit this case.

Hi Larrie,

You are correct, I have not created a connection type for that scenario yet, where the data comes in as TNC-2 format over USB, not KISS.

You could connect the radio to a TNC or decode the audio.

However, it is on my list of planned features; I just haven’t had an easy way to test it.

If you could capture some data coming from the USB port and send it to me, I can see about creating a connection type for it.

I think you can probably use the  ‘head’ command for to do this. If you run “head -c 1000 /path/to/serial/device > /path/to/capture/file”, it should read 1000 bytes from the serial port and write it to the output file.

I somehow got side tracked on this project but I have come back to it.  I have made a screen capture of the data coming from the yaesu FTM-400DR via the usb port.  I did find a post that indicated that the Yaesu data may have non-standard CR and LF (I am assuming that is Carriage Return and Line Feed).  I know the FTM-400 cannot transmit via the computer, but it would be nice to plot the packets on a map.
