ADDING RESERVOIRS & POINT SOURCES

Hello SWAT users,

I have already delineated my watershed using the predefined or existing watershed option and would like to include reservoirs/dams in my SWAT model. I am working with QSWAT.

Is it possible to add a shapefile of the reservoirs (with lat/lon coordinates) to the watershed without selecting the subbasins manually? I have about 150 reservoirs I would want to add to my watershed.

Anyone here who can help?

Hi Benjamin, 

As far as I know, and I am talking about SWAT 2012, not SWAT+, you have to create each reservoir mannualy, which includes creating a reservoir point at the outlet of the reservoir, and one subbasin point at each mouth of tributaries that flow into the reservoir. 

So, if a reservoir has 10 tributaries, you will need to create 10 subbasin points at the mouth of each tributary, plusone reservoir point at the outlet of the reservoir.
