Hi Lorenzo,

We do not support using Apple TV, Chromecast, or any video output devices that do not connect directly to the computer and (with the exception of Blackmagic devices) do not show up to the OS as an available desktop display.

The only wireless solutions we recommend using are ones that have a dedicated sender unit that connects directly to the computer’s HDMI or Mini DisplayPort output.

Thanks!

-Andy

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a 4th-generation AppleTV that has a QLab app on it - you could sync it up with content that is then triggered via OSC.  Could be useful in some lobby-like situations, not something I’d use for a real show though.  Better/cheaper than other digital signage/kiosk options…

It would indeed be cool!  One limitation of tvOS as it stands now is that it has strict local storage limits on the device; they expect you to download data you need on demand, rather than store a lot of files locally.

But I know this precisely because we are rather curious about it ourselves. :-)

I know this is a thread from 2015, but I stumbled across this in my search, and so may other people who are looking to use Qlab with Chromecast. I got it to work! You will have to use a dummy HMDI plug. I used this one. https://www.onlinekabelshop.nl/hdmi-dummy-plug-versie-2-0-4k-60hz-hdr?channable=e17871.NDk2MjM&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn8_mBRCLARIsAKxi0GJLi5lxCjnLLp8fPPUYANBKEUIlsBmArqokUrWwKA-OmBR5mTTApRkaAn38EALw_wcB

This allows Qlab to send video to a second desktop screen. Then using the 'cast desktop' option in google chrome, you can choose the second desktop and send video to a screen or projector wirelessly. Sound doesnt work however, and there is quite a lot of latency. So using it for anything that needs precise timing or with live video I wouldnt recommend it. But for a so called 'lazy cue' or a scenario where your actor is on stage using a laptop and you dont want all the wires this works!.
