Hi pros,
When I run Qlab for the first time today, I open the Settings window and look at the 'templates' table, where the first row is group mode. The default setting is 'timeline' mode. The question is, how can I change this default setting so that the next time I run it, the default group mode is the version I set previously? Or can it be changed at all?

Thanks in advance.
Best,
Kalman

You can configure a template however you want and then set that to be the default template to use when making a new workspace: https://qlab.app/docs/v5/fundamentals/workspace-templates/. This allows you to fully customise your personal “default” settings.

Is there a proper way to ask a question or do I just reply all?

Hi Rusell

If you have a new question, the best thing to do is to send an email to ql...@googlegroups.com.

If you prefer using the web interface, you can vist https://groups.google.com/g/qlab and click “+ New conversation” in the upper left corner.

If you want to continue discussion of an existing topic, you can reply to an email and your reply will be threaded as a continuation of that topic.

Best
Sam

I know templates Rich, I create and use them generally.
Your reply is a good approach but I thought to the QLAB "default" template.
!!!— It is unchangeable if I understand good —!!! OK
Thanks for your reply it is great like always.

How much more changeable do you need it to be than to make a new customised copy of it and set that as the default? Do you want to go inside the application package and edit the source file? You’re out of luck there as it looks like the default default is generated on the fly (not from a file), so you’ll have to cope with editing a copy of the factory default workspace instead.

Seriously, how many new workspaces are you making a day where this actually matters?? Even if you could hack the application the resulting user experience would be indistinguishable from using the tools provided, and you’d have to do it for every update. Did you think there was some kind of preference file? There is: it’s called a template, and you can make it the default.

Rich,
You gave me the answer, I accepted it.
That's it.
