Has anyone used either the Sonnet external gpu chassis or the Bison Box external graphics cards with QLab yet?
I'd love to make a portable, multi-screen QLab setup for corporate events using my Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pro.
I've been able to get 3 usable HD outputs from the computer alone, but it starts to get choppy at times. The newer graphics cards in these external boxes have 4 discreet outputs with massive GPU acceleration.
Thanks.

Hello Scott

External GPUs are not currently supported in macOS, so they are not supported in QLab. There are hacks out there, but as I’m sure you understand we do not and cannot support QLab used with a setup that’s not officially supported by Apple.

macOS 10.12 HIgh Sierra, due out later this month, purportedly adds support for external GPUs over Thunderbolt 3, but we don’t yet know how or how well that will work. We’ve very excited at the possibility!

Best
Sam

Exciting possibilities indeed. A few sites have tinkered with the eGPU capabilities in the High Sierra beta:
