Hello

I have recently updated to qlab 5 for our next production. I am not sure if I am missing a step but I am wondering about the use ofnetwork cues vis a vis triggering a cue stack in another mac running qlab 5 too.

From a physical standpoint, i have  2no. macs running Qlab 5 (latest version).

Both are connected via an un-managed switch.

I can ping each machine and the IP's are static.

What I cannot see is the option to select the specific network I wish to target with the network cue. I am attaching a sample image of another machine. This is not the machine in question but just a screen shot to give you an example of what I am seeing,

I could be reading this all wrong and it may be a lack of familiarity with Qlab 5.

When I go to network and select OSC Access in the tab, the option for allow OSC connections is ticked and IP of the machine I wish to target is listed.

However when I wish to specify the interface in the Network options, it simple does not list any networks available. Any network listed is marked as No Connection. There is only wifi and the two computers into an unmanaged switch. I have turned off Wifi too and no change.

I believe I have ticked all the correct boxes but I cannot see  if/where I am going wrong.

I am only looking to trigger some video cues from the video playback stack via OSC from the audio computer.

Is there an idiot's guide or can someone point me in the right direction? I have looked online but nothing yet.

I hope I have clarified my query somewhat?!

The first question is: if you leave the network patch set to “Automatic” does it work properly?

If so… maybe leave it alone?

If not, we might need to see screen shots from the actual Macs in this situation to help diagnose the problem.
  • Network settings from both Macs showing IP addresses.
  • Network Outputs tab from the sending machine.
  • OSC Access tab from the receiving machine.
Best

Hi all

Sorry for the slow reply today.. It is the usual start of technical rehearsals etc and I am only getting to this now.

I actually figured out the issue. As we had just upgraded to Qlab 5 (design wishes at late notice), I figured the issue might be in a setting or similar and most definitely in my knowledge gap.

I was looking through various elements in a troubleshooting capacity and I discovered my issue last night but I could not test till this morning. I saw something in Qlab cookbook that made me go aha!

The issue was with me as I do not know the newer version enough. I have been practicing but like everything, you have to use it for real to make the mistakes.

I had set up the network(s) correctly and this was fine.

In the OSC ACCESS tab, there is the option for passcode with the 3 boxes of VIEW, EDIT, CONTROL. . I did not have these checked as I believed that this region only pertained to having a passcode in place. My set up is quite small with no real need for the passcode and I had deleted the option of the passcode but I did not realise that the 3 x boxes had to be ticked regardless of whether you wish to have a passcode or not.
Once I ticked the three boxes, the network was opened up and all came together.

Again, I was rushing into set ups with the usual no time attached and was relying on my roughish knowledge of Qlab 4.

I would ask that may be a note or comment here might be a thing?  A simple heading to ensure people know to tick the relevant boxes etc? I a random user and this might trip up someone else again.

I am attaching a simple screen shot of the area in question.

Thanks for coming back to me and to the DM's received.
