Dear Eng. Gissi and developers,
first of all thanks for your impressive commitment.

I would like to pose a question regarding wind-related instability. I found a similar discussion (https://groups.google.com/g/fds-smv/c/eJg_be-1DXY/m/pU87iuEuAQAJ), but a solution focused on solver constraints was suggested.

I was replicating the Golden Gate fire case, exposed in your Quickstart guide, with same input parameters, in particular varying wind. It was successful with Level Set Mode 1, but when coupling wind with terrain I continued getting instability. The same happened with constant wind of intensities higher than about 1,5 m/s.
Since instability always arised in the same mesh, I solved it by thickening the terrain obstructions. So my questions are:
- Did you ever experience the same problem?
- Do you think a thin obstruction could have been the source of instability?
- Is it safe if I integrate the "terrain.py" code for thickening all obstructions or it could create other kind of issues?
- Can, filling the domain below terrain, be an alternative? Does it in turn create other problems? If no, how could it be automated in the code?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Luca

Luca,
I did not encounter the same instability issue.
If you have issues with the FDS solver, better to write to the FDS discussion group. This group is dedicated to qgis2fds issues only.
Anyway, if you want to contribute to qgis2fds you are more than welcome.
Please, in case get in contact with me directly.
Best,
Emanuele
