I read the name of the repo as "Learn Clang". Is that intentional? Clang is the apple front end to a compiler:

Hah, I just now followed the link to the other original post and saw the same comment I had made.

Hi all,--This is a post originally made on Tech-Artists.org.Me and a few friends have set-up a small GitHub organisation for developers interested in taking a plunge into C/C++, specifically for the film and games industry, to complement our higher-level knowledge in pipeline research and development using languages such as Python and Lua.The idea is to learn by example and complete small tasks, one at a time, together on-line and document our progress in GitHub issues, wikis and chat rooms. The details have yet to be worked out, like from which level we're assuming to start out from but spontaneously I'd imagine us going from a basic understanding of scripting, but no prior experience in any compiled language, to eventually end up being able to produce useful software - e.g. real-time geometry, animation or rendering technology in C++, Qt and OpenGL and to potentially decipher Siggraph papers into useful end-products, before they end up in major DCCs.If you're interested, say hello on Gitter, post your GitHub username and let's get started.Best,Marcus--

We’re talking about having a screencast in which Sebastian Thiel, former head of pipeline of Trixter, Germany, will write a simple program in C, live, the restriction being that it should consist of less than 45 lines and take less than 45 minutes to make, during which we can follow along and ask questions about the birds and the bees.
We’re talking about what the program should do, ranging from a calculator to a rock-paper-scissor program to a text-based RPG. Join in on the conversation, let us know what time would suit you better or if you have any requests! Estimating that we’ll get started sometime next week.

Welcome in!If anyone else wants in, there will be a beginner-level screencast on **Thursday, 8th of January at 8 PM GMT+0** on an online service called Twitch in which you can join (anonymously, if you prefer) and chat with Sebastian with any questions.

I don’t know, to be honest. I think we’ll let this first one go as it goes and if it’s recorded somehow I can try and put it up somewhere.
Spontaneously though, I think it might make for a better show if it’s always live and interactive. I know some folks won’t be able to join if they’re on the other side of the planet, but on the other hand that does leave room for both a “east coast” broadcast and a “west coast” broadcast.
Also, while I’m here:
If anyone would be interested in making their own screencast, that would be cool. We could try and arrange it so that there is at least one broadcast a week or so. I know some of you are experienced in C/C++ already, I’m sure many of us would appreciate a peek into your brain. Maya plug-in development will become relevant in a bit, for example, once we’re all familiar with the basics.

After the great success of the Hello, World! project, in which we’ve managed to fully document every corner of getting up to speed with C in terms of choosing a compiler and text editor on major platforms, time has now come to produce a first user-facing interface in the form of a console-based download application.
We’ll then distribute this application as though it was the greatest thing ever (which it will be, obviously) with it’s own dedicated website and automate as much of the bundling and packaging as we can for it to align with major platforms like Windows, OSX and Linux; including documentation, an installer and splash-image.
Once we’ve covered writing a user interface and distributed it to our target audience, we’ll be fully equipped to make a living selling our great software to end-users across the globe. All we need from there on out is skill. Simple. :)
2 weeks in and we are now 53 enthusiasts interested in the art of C, 3 screencasts recorded by Sebastian Thiel a.k.a. Byron on the basics of C, available on YouTube with more coming up on live streams via Twitch.
To join, head on to the chat and start conversing.
See you on Gitter!
