Debugging tool slowness in Maya context

Hi everyone,

This may or may not be related to Maya in general but trying out my luck in any case.

Both me and my friend are using this tool (created from PyQt) where you input in an image sequence path.

It works well for me - as in I am able to modify the fields within the tool without much trouble.

However as for my friend, there are times where as soon as he input in an image sequence path/ tried to modify a field, the widgets/ fields in the tool seemingly disappear for 1-2 seconds before he can make any changes. Unfortunately this is not a one-off thing and it only seems to be happening to his machine.

We are using Linux and Maya 2018, wondering if there are other ways that we can try it out and determine the cause of it? Eg. Is there a command that I can use that displays out what is going in Maya environment etc?

Also tried removing the Prefs folder thinking it could be Maya related, but that does not seems to resolve it.
