How can I set a FireEffect Attribute in maya using Python?

I have tryed setting a Fire Effect on a sphere through maya Pyhon but I didn't have much luck...  I don't know where to start and couldn't find anything usefull online. Could anyone help me please? Thank you!

Thank you so much! =) Do you know if it's possible to animate the fire effect? For example, I try to animate/re-position a polygon which has the fire effect on it... But the fire doesn't seem to move properly...Thank you again!

You can try looking into applying a se.expr to the maya mesh. Heres the link to plugin source code by Tai Komatsu

I'm not really sure how your moving the polygon, But the emitter type is set to 'surface' by default, so really anyway you move the polygon(s) the emitter will emit from it. perhaps you need to hit play to see the simulation update...?
