Hi,
I was trying to compute the emissivity for the Si IX and Mg VIII lines using PyNeb version 1.1.26, but it seems that these ions are not available in the current database. Could you please confirm if that's the case? Also, could you suggest any alternative tools or methods to obtain these emissivities?

Best regards,

Payel

Hi Payel,
The Si+8 and Mg+7 ions are not included in the current version of PyNeb. But some data are in the Chianti database, that can be read and used in the Atom class. You need to update PyNeb to 1.1.28 to be able to read the latest version of Chianti database (v11), that is there: https://www.chiantidatabase.org/chianti_download.html
Once unziped, you need to add the directory location to the environment variable XUVTOP and you will be able to see the corresponding options in the building of Atom objects.
Mg+7 has only 2 levels, producing the IR line, but Si+8 has a LOT of levels, you can reduce this number by adding the NLevels keyword to the instantiation of the Atom object.

Hope it helps,
Ch.

Thanks, Christophe, it worked.
