Adding a progress bar to a splash screen ?

I've created a Windows .exe and modified my .spec file so as to include a splash screen at program startup.

When the splash screen image appears, the end-user will see flashing text,  which lists all packages being loaded. The names of the packages aren't really important to my end-user, so I'm wondering if there's a way to add some sort of progress bar instead?
