Failed to generate additional resources using 'eval_generate'

Hey all,

 I'm getting the following error on only one of my puppet hosts:

Error: /File[/var/lib/puppet/facts.d]: Failed to generate additional resources using 'eval_generate': Error 400 on SERVER: Not authorized to call search on /file_metadata/pluginfacts with {:links=>"manage", :checksum_type=>"md5", :ignore=>[".svn", "CVS", ".git"], :recurse=>true}

Error: /File[/var/lib/puppet/facts.d]: Could not evaluate: Could not retrieve file metadata for puppet://puppet.jokefire.com/pluginfacts: Error 400 on SERVER: Not authorized to call find on /file_metadata/pluginfacts with {:links=>"manage", :source_permissions=>"use"}

Wrapped exception:

Error 400 on SERVER: Not authorized to call find on /file_metadata/pluginfacts with {:links=>"manage", :source_permissions=>"use"}

The client is an ubuntu 13.10 host running puppet agent version 3.5.0 against a puppet master 2.7.3

Could someone give me a hand in how to handle this error?

Hi,

this smells of something funny related to pluginsync.

You will want to carefully diff this agent's config against its peers.
Beyond that, I'd try and play with the pluginsync settings and work from
there.

I think I have read somewhere that puppet master should always be at least at the same version  that the agents.

Though the OP did not report back, I am reasonably confident that his issue was as Jose suggested: his agent was a newer version than his master (much newer, in fact).  If that's not the case for you then your problem is likely different, and in that case some details would help.
