Ubuntu Utopic 14.10 reached end of life on 2015-07-23 [1], so we are no
longer building new packages for it and will remove it from our apt
repository on Monday, September 21.

Please don't remove it or at least provide some kind of archive (not arguing that there will be no updates, just don't remove the files).

We're in the process of creating an archive for these older releases. However, there is no timeline for this work. You can follow it at https://tickets.puppetlabs.com/browse/CPR-201

Mirroring an apt repository is pretty easy and there is rsync access via rsync://apt.puppetlabs.com.

More generally, I strongly recommend maintaining your own internal mirrors for any of your package dependencies, even if it's unofficial in your $HOME or something. That way you can do your upgrades whenever it suits you, rather than racing against repository deprecation time.

I'm actually refering to:
Both having the same (underlying) issue. I'm well aware how to mirror repositories. But the thing is want puppetlabs to see that there is interested so I will comment on the messages passing by here. I think it is all too easy to forget about the tickets that just have watchers, so I try to actively bug people with the things I care about :)

Also I couldn't agree more with Ehsan Foroughi who commented on the Lucid thread:

I feel that one thing puppet labs is failing to understand here is how puppet is the perfect technology to update those end-of-life systems and how harmful is this removal of old packages to your own technology that you have built here.

I think that pretty much captures the whole point of having a release archive.
