Puppet agent hangs on "Executing: '/sbin/service nfs start'

My agent is 6.6.0 and my server is 6.4.0, so I realize this may be a mismatch problem, though why the repos have advanced the agent past the server, I don't know.

Anyway:

My agents on C6 are now hanging and refusing to progress. This happens randomly; some part of the catalog will get applied but not all. When I just now tried to debug one, it hangs reliably at the following:

# puppet agent -t --debug
:
:
Debug: Executing: '/sbin/service nfs status'
Debug: Executing: '/sbin/chkconfig nfs'
Debug: Executing: '/sbin/service nfs start'

Has anyone else seen this? It's new to me...

First thing to try: Does it also hang if you run the command manually? Maybe it's a problem with that specific service.

It must have been a long day yesterday. I thought this was something Puppet was doing internally. I'm closing in on the root cause now.
