Hi guys,

I am a little bit confused about how to use Puppet Dashboard group in MCollective.

As we know, we can add group in Puppet Dashboard to include Nodes and Classes, then when Puppet agent runs, it will check the groups to find out which node should have which class.

How is this Group definition used in MCollective? When you use "runonce" in MCollective, can you specify the Group name that you defined in Dashboard? I can't figure out how. I understand you can use agent/identity/class filters in MCollective command line, but don't see any document talking about using dashboard group as filter.

thanks,
Stella

Hi Stella,

Out of the box there is no support for this.
You can write your own MCollective discovery plugin to do this or use my basic version [1] and enhance it 😄
