puppet nagios module integration

Hi all,

I am pretty much confused regarding nagios integration with puppet, I have some question:

1) Do we need to install nagios separately.

2) Can we manage nagios through puppet UI.

Some instructions to proper integration of nagios with puppet will be helpful.

Hi,

I'll try to answer, since I'm using the nagios_* -types in puppet.

 

1) Do we need to install nagios separately.

Just using the nagios_* -types will not install nagios for you. But it is entirely possible to install nagios using puppet. There might even be such a module available, but I wrote my own, which is specific to our environment.

 

2) Can we manage nagios through puppet UI.

No GUI-iterop as far as I know.

Hi Paul,

   Can you be more specific how you are using puppet to install nagios? You mean you are using puppet to install nagios agents in every server? Do you have anything other than in mind that can be automated in nagios using puppet?
