** Next PR Triage Wednesday, October 1st @ 10:00 am Pacific. **
Skipping next week because of PuppetConf

Priorities

  1. Puppet 3.7.1
  2. CFacter on the march
  3. New puppet doc implementation
  4. Code removal for puppet 4

Commentary

I'm still a little messed up. I don't know if this is late or early.

We got 3.7.1 out. It looks to have resolved a number of issues…and introduced some others. We are still investigating to see if these warrant a 3.7.2 to fix them. Thanks everyone for reporting bugs! We'll keep the 3.7.2 fix version around until we know one way or the other.

CFacter is getting a lot of solaris support in it. The windows support is getting going now too.

Puppet-strings is heading toward they first release for around October 1st. The release will really be getting some tests around it, jenkins jobs in place, and published onto the forge. After that we'll start doing some UX research on how it is used, what everyone wants, etc. The feedback from the previous thread was really interesting, especially the desire to have something more like rocco/docco. Right now it is based on YARD, but if it turns out that rocco or docco better fits how puppet code should be documented, then 0.2.0 might move in that direction.

I've been spending time running through the code to list out everything that we are removing (PUP-862). There is a lot…and I'm looking for more. One thing I'll (or a colleague) be asking about is about dropping PSON in favor of plain JSON. There are implications to this (binary data support) and the question will be how much of an impact it would have. No tickets about this yet, just part of the puppet 4 scoping.

Data

I don't really have anything to show right now…so how about this pretty graph that Kylo has put into our slide deck for our PuppetConf talk.
