Puppet Dev status week ending April 17th

Hi folks,

A quick note this week.

Our big news of course is that we shipped puppet 4!!! I imagine that this audience has already read about this, but if not, there are two good starter blog posts at:

Huge thanks to everyone who has tried out puppet 4 and the new puppet-agent and puppetserver packages, and for all the great feedback on jira/irc/twitter/etc.

Next up for us is:

* improvements to the pupppet 3 -> puppet 4 upgrade story, notably:

** puppetserver 2.1 will support 3.x agents on the network

** we'll have some mechanism (probably a simple module) to facilitate agent upgrades

* lots of core improvements, including:

** quite a few PRs that didn't quite make the cut for puppet 4 (plus misc puppet 4 bug fixes)

** and facter 3 is just about ready to go, so look for that in a puppet-agent release soon too
