[Announce] Release of PDK v1.6.1

Hello Everyone!


Today we’re happy to announce the latest release of PDK version 1.6.1. This is bugfix release with some fixes we've been hoping to get out to you quickly.


This release includes:


Notable Bugfixes:

  • Validate should skip spec/fixtures directory
  • Fixes issue on Windows when command exceeds maximum character length
  • Fixes unhandled Ruby errors when encountering unknown output from puppet parser validate
  • Fixes failure rendering templates in nested directories
  • Fixes failure in pdk build when binstubs aren't set up

Other notable changes:

  • PDK install packages now available for the following new platforms!
    • Debian 8, 9
    • Fedora 26, 27
    • OS X 10.13
    • Ubuntu 18.04

To try this new version, use yum or apt on the Linux command line or download it for Windows, OS X, and Linux platforms at https://puppet.com/download-puppet-development-kit.

Hey Everyone!

I made a mistake in yesterday's announcement email! The docs for installing PDK via brew and chocolatey are not published yet. But for those that want to do it, you can install PDK via brew using the instructions here: https://github.com/puppetlabs/homebrew-puppet . And for Choco, it's just a `choco install pdk` or `choco upgrade pdk`.

I'm pleased to say that we *do* now have instructions for installing PDK with Homebrew or Chocolatey. See the Installing PDK page at https://puppet.com/docs/pdk/1.x/pdk_install.html for details.
