Ah, no worries. We started working on ticket PUP-3774 and discovered it had the same root cause as what your PR was trying to solve. We wanted to reconcile the two approaches and figure out next steps, but unfortunately there wasn't time for the 4.2.0 release. Hopefully that should pick up soon, also would be great to your thoughts about PUP-3774.
