When doing a {{puppet apply /path/to/directory}}, [main documentation|https://puppet.com/docs/puppet/5.5/dirs_manifest.html#manifest-directory-behavior] indicates that subdirectories are supposed to be parsed.

If a subdirectory happens to be a symlink, it is currently not followed, due to behavior of Ruby's globbing mechanism.
UPDATE

We should document that the use of symlinks is not supported when --manifest references a directory.
We will not change the implementation.

Claire Cadman could you add documentation under https://puppet.com/docs/puppet/7/dirs_manifest.html#dirs_manifest-manifest-directory-behavior (and 6.x too) that puppet not follow symlinks when the manifest setting refers to a directory?
