Hi Everyone,

Software Freedom Day at Panjab University is not too far. This year is the 11th edition of SFD. We are proud to say that the previous year went well and we have people selected in GSOC, Outreacy, The Linux Foundation, GirlsScript and more..
Here is the link to the previous edition photo gallery.

  • Planning Sheet for SFD - here

  • Website is already live. You can check it at www.softwarefreedomday.in

  • CFP will be open from 10 June 2020. Link to CFP is here.

  • Team consists of total 19 people: Ankur, Ayushman, Aman, Mahir, Sarthak, Yeshi, Tarun, Saloni, Archit, Sashank, Kshitij, Vishal, Anshul, Gurnameh, Mayank, Vaibhav, Shreyas, Hitesh and Kashish
Link to team page - link

  • We have started contacting Organizations and Companies for sponsorships.

  • Till now we are planning according to an offline SFD, but the final decision betweeen hosting this year's SFD online or offline will be taken in the 1 - 2 weeks of july.
Dates for the event are probably 19 -20 September. But we are not sure that weather new students will get admission till then or not. So if not, we also need to decide weather to shift this year SFD's a bit or not.
Till now no confirmations have been given by the College on this matter.
Suggestions are welcome regarding this matter.

  • You can contact regarding this with me (Ankur: +91-8317021042) or Mahir (+91-9416173796), or mail us at sfdp...@gmail.com

Thanks and Regards

Hi Ankur,

Seems like a great start. :)
Thanks to all the volunteers. SFD cannot be possible without the dedication of all the volunteers.

My suggestion is that we should be going with live streaming.
It will be a big step-up for SFD at PU.
Times are uncertain and we can be putting a lot of students/speakers at risk by keeping them inside a closed AC Hall.
Having said that, the speakers will be coming from a lot of places and travel via public convenience, which increases the risk for all.

The other possibility is that we delay the SFD this year if the students will join late.
But then again, let's avoid physical conference, for everyone's safety.

Nitul and I were discussing this post today - that we should keep everyone's safety above everything else.

Lets us know your thoughts.
