Is it possible to send a full 360 Panorama image to an email contact which will allow them to open the picture as a 360 image?

Hi Andrew, you can send it by mail, like jpg or tiff, but to view it, the one will need a player. Except you load it up to f.e. Streetview/ Maps and send just the Link, than it will be shown in 360°. In some Apps (like Rioch Theta) you are able to animate the 360° to generate a small movie, mp4, this would be a workaround...
cheers

In my humble opinion, one of the better interactive viewers for 360X180 panoramas is the DevalVR viewer, available here:

and demos here:

It is small and easy to use allowing pan, tilt and zoom with the mouse buttons/wheel. I have been using it for years. And you can create an executable file with the image imbedded, so it starts with a single click (automatically starting to pan after a preset number of seconds if no mouse interactions).

On the downside, some mail and file sharing programs will not allow the sending of executable files because of the risk of malicious code.

I too have been a longtime user of Devalview but it does have the disadvantage of not working on Apple iOS (and although I haven’t tested it because I don’t have a MAC computer) I assume that would also be true for Apple computers. Great program, though.
