Hi, I am having a weird issue loading photos into ptgui pro from my new insta 360 1" camera.
In all of the following scenerios, I load 1 image file into ptgui, and 2 show up, and they do not stitch properly:

1. from insta360studio app I create 1 DNG file
2. from insta360studio app I create 1 JPG file
3. I edit the above files in affinity and then try loading into ptgui

Why is it detecting 2 photos when Im only loading in 1 image file?

You have input a stitched image into PTGui, whereas it is expecting two side-by-side image circles in one image.  Please see the FAQ item:  https://ptgui.com/support.html#6_41 .

Im following the steps but there are no overlapping control points as the two images don't overlap. Should I just add control points regardless? When I try auto generating control points nothing happens. When I added in 5 control points manually and went to project/optimize, the result was "very bad".

I've loaded fully complete stitched images into ptgui in the past and I haven't seen this issue before (from previously created panos using ptgui). Any reason its a thing with one shot cameras?

Hi Conrad,

As John says, PTGui thinks you've loaded a dual fisheye images (two
circular images in on image) from the insta 360. It will load the same
image twice and apply a circular fisheye lens type.

To disable this, you can do this:

- start new project
- load your image
- in Source Images, remove one of the two copies
- Click Advanced and go to Lens Settings
- Lens type: equirectangular, 360 degree horizontal field of view
- Click Reset under Lens Correction
- In the Panorama Editor, choose Projection - Preset - Spherical

You don't need to add any control points.

If you could make the source image available (so I can reproduce the
problem), I'll see if this behavior can be prevented. This is only
possible if the manufacturer has included the aprorpriate metadata though.

Kind regards,

PTGui detects this image as an Insta360 source image, which usually
contains two fisheye circular images and uses it as specified on
Project Settings tab, Miscellaneous section.

For your current project, delete the second image (Source images tab),
change the lens type to equirectangular, Horizontal filed of view 360°
and reset the lens correction parameters (Lens Settings tab).

thanks for the info, but its still not producing the right results.
Looks like the mask is still being applied to half the image as there is a deadspace where half the image is (see screenshot).

I tried removing the mask altogether and the resulting missing space is gone, but there is still a section where there is deadspace. Its not stitching together (see 2nd screenshot)

Also, here is a sample file if anyone else would like a crack at it

Hi Conrad,

Check the Crop tab, and press No Crop there. When everything looks good, you can save a template for reuse.
