Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me get my new Laowa 8-15mm dialed in for proper stitching. It seems that the Fisheye Factor is the one element that needs to be dialed in

I shoot with the lens just wider than 12mm to fill the frame top to bottom with the circle. It obviously extends wider than the sensor width and I take 6 panos + nn + z

When I use auto align....it goes from thinking my lens is 12.1 to 7.6mm after several rounds of aligning. This doesn't seem right as I thought the panos would be around 20k x 10k and they are closer to 16k x8k.

Please advise and thank you in advance.

John. What camera are you using?  It's maybe not a full frame model (sensor size of 36x24 mm).  Your focal lengths of 12.1 and 7.6 suggest a crop factor of  12.1/7.6=1.59 so perhaps an APSC sensor.  Enter the crop factor on the Lens Settings tab and the reported focal length should then be correct.

The camera is a A7RV it’s full frame for sure:)

It got better when I chose a fisheye factor closet to .53 than 1. Stitching didn’t make me curse out loud as often haha. Thanks

Hi John,

Could you share your images with me? This is so I can take a look but
also to add a lens profile for this lens to PTGui.

As John says, are you sure the camera isn't set to APS-C mode? The A7
has a full frame sensor but it can supposedly be configured to use only
the APS-C area.

If you use the lens at 8mm you should be able to see the complete image
circle on a full frame sensor.

Kind regards,

John,  Would you please supply a copy of your project file (image files not needed).  That would help to clarify what's going on.
