I'm encountering misalignment issues when stitching my panoramas. Specifically, I'm seeing broken lines on wall corners, vertical pipes, and floor tile seams. What is the best way to fix these errors effectively?

Hi John,

Usually these kind of errors are caused by parallax. You need to use a
dedicated panoramic tripod head.

To learn more about parallax please watch the first video tutorial:
https://ptgui.com/videotutorials.html

If you did use a panohead and it is properly adjusted, then you should
be able to get a good result by ensuring there are control points
between all overlapping images. If you need help, make your images
available for download and I'll be happy to take a look!

Kind regards,

Here is the download link for the source images. Could you please help me determine if this is a shooting issue or a stitching issue?

John,  To fix the stitching errors, the general technique is to create additional control points in the areas where you see glitches, and then rerun the optimizer.  Blank white walls can be problematical, but by zooming right in, you can sometimes find spots and blemishes to assign control points on manually via the Control Points tab in Advanced mode and zooming right in to a 100% view.  When the images are already roughly aligned, you can try to assign extra points automatically in particular areas by using the "Generate control points here" function.  For details of how to do this: in the Control Points tab, go to Help->Help for this window.  Another useful tip is to carry some post-it stickers and stick them on bare walls where overlaps will occur for later use as temporary features for control points.  These can then be easily removed and cloned out of the stitched panorama.

Hi John

Just as an idea until you got a recommended panoramic tripod head: did you export the jpgs having the lens correction activated? If not, possibly that could help.

Best regards,
Roland

John,  This is certainly a shooting issue. There is major parallax shift visible, as in this example:

See the reflections in the glass door of the fire hose cupboard.  See how they shift sideways relative to the red lettering on the glass.  The reflected features are relatively a long way away on the other side of the room.  Classic parallax!  You need to invest in a spherical panorama tripod head and set it up properly (many tutorials are available).  See the video tutorials on the PTGui web site under "Learn".

Thanks for everyone's help. It looks like this is due to a parallax issue.
