Universal Audio accessibility like the Apollos for audio interfaces with voice over and Pro Tools

Hi, I am a student studying audio engineering and was talking to
Sweetwater about a new audio interface to replace the Digi 003 that has
the moving track sliders. as on the new macs I am not sure if that
interface will be able to work with the latest version of Pro Tools. 
What I want to know is are any of the Universal Audio interfaces
accessible if I will be using them with Pro Tools like I can with my
Digi 003 where track one is set to input 1 and so on? Is there any
modern control surfaces that have moving components that I can buy that
let me feel where each track volume is at that will work with the
Apollos as these are the ones that they were suggesting I buy?  If their
plugins are accessible that is nice but mainly I will be using the ones
that come with Pro Tools so what do I need to know before I get one of
these interfaces?  Nick Gawronski
