I'm trying to figure out a way to duplicate a kick part. I do not want to sit there and play 120 measures of a kick on my keyboard. How can I play eight bars of the kick and then copy and paste those eight bars out until I get to the end of the session or project?
According to an earlier post, I can press command F1twice  to set the start point. Then, press command F2 twice to set the end point. From here, I am confused about what to do next the post said something about typing/1/8 on my numeric keypad. It never works for me. Can someone please help?

That command does nothing.  After setting my start and end with command F1 and command F2,  command option L does nothing.  The correct track if selected. Also, I'm doing this from the edit window.

This command is not working. After making my selection using command F1, and command F2, command option L does nothing.

Hi jimmie,
Let me make it easy for you.
Make a selection in the transport, say a 8 bar selection.
Now with that track selected you want to extend like you said the kick drum for example, hit "option r" for the repeat dialogue.
Now punch in the number  1 in the how many times you want to repeat then hit ok or just hit return and bang!
You now have 16 bars of that kick!
If you input 2 times for repeat you have 24 bars of that kick.
Thats it!
