Hi David,

It's been about 17 years since I've been in front of a 3800 but, if I remember correctly, there's a scrub button that needs to be pressed to get the surface into scrub mode. If the device is recognized and the faders pop up when you open a session, I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of hitting that button before scrubbing.
HTH,
Slau

Hi David,

I did a quick Google search and found the MCS-3800 series manual and converted it to html for you. Looks like you have to hit the Job button to get into scrub mode. Here you go:

Hi David,

Oo, I have no idea where that button is, of course. Now, it's possible that there was some slight change between the 3500 and the 3800 and so maybe it's not the bottom right. At any rate, I'm wondering whether SeeingAI might do the trick. Maybe the buttons are too close together for that and it is, after all, a complex surface to read so maybe not. Perhaps some sighted assistance if that works at some point. Keep us posted.

Ah, one thing did just come to mind. If you haven't done this already, make sure that in the Pro Tools Preferences, under the Operation tab, you check the checkbox for "Insertion Follows Scrub." If you haven't done that, that's the culprit. LMK

I did check that, also I found that in my controller I had to program the button to do the jog wheel it was on some other function so I fix that and when I did that everything is as far as that part works now I just have to remember how to do all the editing because I haven’t done for so many years LOL thank you for your help

Hello Slau, I got the jog wheel working but when I press the shift key to select the audio or midi I want to delete or change I can’t get the shift key to work. I elected the track I wanted to edit I have flotools installed. What am I missing?
I tried to post this on the protools accessibility google groups, but I couldn’t’t find where to create a new topic. Thanks so much.

Hi David,

This message did go through to the list. Composing a new message with a new subject addressed to the ptac...@googlegroups.com works fine.

I don't know what's going on for you. If you have insertion set to follow scrub (which I think you already have set), adding the Shift modifier should do the trick as long as you have Waveform set as your track View and Track and Edit Selection linked under the Options menu. I'm putting together a document to help as a checklist for such troubleshooting. Keep us posted.
