Now that my Mac and ProTools are all up-to-date, I was looking for the new OCR. The links that I have no longer work. Could someone please send me the link to get the new OCR for Catalina?

Yeah, it really works well for what it is, I mean at this point considering it’s  using the vision-kit APIs from Catalina, this is something that Apple should be including as a built-in feature of voiceover.
I’ve even been able to use it for rudimentary access to the universal audio Consol, which otherwise is completely in accessible

Rudimentary access to the UAD Console? Elaborate please? What sort of rudimentary things can you do with this?

Thanks,

Hi Steve,
Joe out in LA has been using the Apollo console; for a while now.
Thats all I know!
If you want more details you'll half to ask him.
He's on this list.
In the mean time has any body heard from UA about VoiceOver accessibility with the "LUNA" software coming out?
Whats going to be interesting is "the Apollo "luna" recording app for all thunderbolt equipped UAD units.
Hey guys if you want to drop Scott Greiner <sgre...@uaudio.com>
a friendly email asking about LUNA and voiceover please do!
HTH
Chuck

Hi Steve,
I've been able to add inserts to the unison slot, change mono to stereo, turn input monitoring on/off, things of that sort.
Still can't access the mixing matrix.
I'd love to hear from Joe as well as to what they have working.
Chuck, I haven't heard anything about Luna, but will drop Scott a friendly email in the morning.
Will of course post any updates here.

So are you able to access the presets or adjust plug in parameters once you put them in the unison slot? I imagine you have to constantly re scan the screen with OCR every time you change something?

It's fairly easy to adjust toggles, but sliders and nobs are still inaccessible. I just bought a soft-tube console one as it has a mode which can control UAD software and I'm hoping that it will increase the parameter access.

A couple years ago when the soft tube one console got UAD integration we were discussing it on here and what I was told on this list made me decide it wasn’t worth the hassle. I just search the archives and found the excerpt:

I've been using it for 2 months now and I do like it a lot. There will be a large learning curve because it's an extremely visual unit but you can get by enough to make it work. The bottom line is you'll have to get lots of sighted assistance to set it up, especially if you're working through the UA console. Once it is set up you can save your settings and they will be restored when you launch it. The nobs are all continuous so you will never know where you are which is the biggest problem. You can't flatten out an EQ once you have turned a nob but you can bypass it with a button. The only way to get around this is to actually go back to a preset and come back in but of course you will have lost all of your settings. I strictly use this on input signals so I can quickly dial in some EQ and compression. If you're going to use it as a plugin on a track I believe it's not worth the trouble because it's quite time consuming to figure out where you are

this time. You may have better luck combining it with OCR, but still sounds like it may be a slow workflow, vs using the UAD plug ins in the DAW where they are accessible and then you can use with a control surface to speed up workflow. However the Unison aspect is not available in the DAW I am aware.  Keep us posted on your experiences.

Hello! New information to me is that the VOCR application exists. There was a podcast on applevis in the summer of 2019 that I listened to on the topic. I downloaded the application from the link I submitted earlier, copied it to the applications directory when I launch nothing happens.
What do I need to do to work? What options do I need to install?
Thanks!

Which version of macOS are you running? The oder version of VOCR required a number of secondary tools to be installed to work correctly, and as I haven't used that version I can't help. The new alpha version released last fall to coincide with macOS Catalina only requires keyboard maestro to be installed as far as I am aware.

Catalina runs on the macbook. Yes, I installed the alpha version released last fall. I downloaded the trial version of keyboard maestro and installed it. Where can I read what steps I need to take to make ocr work?
Thanks for the information!

The new version that runs on Catalena does not require Keyboard Maestro at all. Its entirely stand alone as its using apples Vision Kit API. Once you open it from your applications folder you will need to give it the  appropriate permissions and then you should be up and running. The read me file should explain all the permissions you need to give it.

For some reason, I have to load mine every time the computer starts. Did I miss something in the set up? Is it supposed to be this way?

Yes unless you add it to the list of apps that start up when your computer do. The previous version was a set of keyboard maestro scripts and since keyboard maestro had its engine set to run at start up you could always runs keyboard maestro scripts after restarting without having to launch anything first.

To have it load at startup, go to System Preferences>Security and Privacy and go to the Login Items tab. Unlock the window with your system password. Go to the Add button and pressing it will bring up a file browser. Navigate to your Applications folder and select VOCR and press Return. That'll add VOCR to your startup items.

Slau

Under security and privacy, I'm not seeing any logon tab. I go to the privacy tab, look at the table, and still do not see anything labeled log on items. Am I missing something?

Hello,

It's actually under the Users & Groups button in System Preferences' main window. Go to Users & Groups and from there select Login Items.

Hope this helps,

Chris

My bad, I said "Security and Privacy" rather than Users and Groups." You'll need to use the Security and Privacy pane to set other things for VOCR. You'll definitely need to do a Google search for VOCR Github and Catalina to find the web page that includes detailed instructions on how to get everything working.
Best,
Slau

Never mind--was right in the ReadMe and had no idea... https://github.com/chigkim/VOCR/releases/download/v0.1.0-alpha.10/VOCR.v0.1.0-alpha.10.zip

If any of you however are on macOS Mojave and earlier, then you'd benefit with the master one I sent previously

That, however, would require an app that can be downloaded called Keyboard Maestro. The current one which uses VisionKit is based on Xcode and therefore is not needed as, like I've just mentioned, it's using Xcode as the app's "home base" per se, rather than Keyboard Maestro's macro group that's added when you install the Master file (before macOS Catalina).

I read the emails. VOCR works, thanks! The conversations you had with each other were helpful.
I just haven't found the answer, but maybe I was careless if I recognized an application window, how do I activate its elements? I didn't realize it. Or do I just recognize it?

Once you navigate with the VOCR controls to the application element you want to click on you can use VOSift Space to click on the element.

Thanks. I wanted to set up the waves plugin, even though it recognizes, unfortunately I can't activate the elements. Has anyone tried Waves?
