Look at chapter 3, under "Midi Control Features" for the heading.

Slau says with Flo Tools, you can query the tempo by pressing Command+F12, and double pressing Command F12 with Flo Tools will let you type a tempo value. This is incorrect. It's actually Command+F11. Not F12. Just thought I'd point this out.

Chris.

Yes, that's right.

Hi Chris.
Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve been going through the ProTools tutorial for screen reader users during the past month or so, and it’s been really helpful. I don’t have ProTools yet on my computer, but it’s nice that Slau goes in to everything in detail. The audio examples and demos are really great and helpful too. I’ve learned some useful commands that I didn’t know before. I have gotten up to chapter 5. I’ll start reading chapter 6 next.
Also, I was wondering if ProTools works on a MacBook Air with an M2 chip? I received a MacBook Air for my birthday in January, and didn’t know if it would be compatible with ProTools. I am running Ventura OS 13.2 on it.
Thx.
Katie

Hello Katie!

The current version of Pro Tools 2022.12 does support M1 and M2 Macs.
Further we'll expect the next version quite soon.

Be aware that also all your plug-ins have to be m1/m2 ready.
The AIR instruments bundle in your Avid account isn't at the moment, but will be with the upcoming version.

Best! / Martin

As long as you run PT in Roseta mode, which it should do by default anyway upon installation, then yeah, I see no reason why it wouldn't work, but I'll let someone else comment to be sure. I have the macbook air from 2020 which is the M1, not M2, so yeah... I love this system though to absolute pieces! I wouldn't trade it for anything! And now that on Ventura we have Eloquence? Don't even get me started with that, but we'll just say, I'm now in blyss heaven with this thing!

Martin,

What's the best way I can know when updates are available for ProTools. I know Avid Link should tell me, but I didn't think that thing was the most usable. I mean, OK, it's somewhat doable, but kind of a pain in the behaunkis putting it mildly.

Is it just best to stay tuned on this list, and keep a close eye on the list traffic, or is there a more reliable, if that even be the right word, way?

Chris.

Sign up to the production expert email list, they always put out an announcement when there's a new release of ProTools

Chris,

I saw Rocco left a message and I'm interested to hear what Martin has to say. Below you will find a link to the ProTools compatibility webpage. if you navigate down the webpage by heading, you'll find the tools heading. There is an option to subscribe.

If you subscribe you will receive an email whenever Avid makes a post About a new ProTools release. Plus, you can read about all the details related to compatibility on this page.

Hope this helps,
Steve Baskis

So, is that list different than what Steve was talking about, or same thing.

The one Steve was talking about is directly from Avid, and the other one is a third-party company that does all kinds of ProTools blogs and tutorials etc.

Hello!

After talking to Avid, Pro tools 2022.12 is M1/M2 ready.
You habe to uncheck the run in Rosetta mode after installing Pro Tools.
Further - as mentioned before - you also have to check, if all you desired plug-ins are M1/M2 ready.
At the moment the 1st AIR instruments bundle isn't.
But it will come with the next version of Pro Tools expected in March.

Best! / Martin

Hello Chris!

The Avid newsletter is ok. Same for the Production Experts one.
I periodically visit my Avid account and check for new stuff.

Best! / Martin

Expected in March…? It's already nearing the end of March. Are you sure you didn't mean April?
