Flo Tools Team in need of a little feedback for upcoming release

As we prepare the next version of Flo Tools, the Flo Tools Team is pondering a particular set of features and wondering whether we should keep them, discard them or just change the implementation just a bit.

There are 5 keyboard shortcuts with single and double-tap version s that list things like Soloed tracks, muted tracks, armed tracks etc. Double-tapping lists the unsoloed, unmuted, unarmed tracks, etc. In each case, depending on the single or double tap, you get one or the other version of the list and can toggle the status of the listed tracks individually. The modifier combination includes Control+Shift along with letter keys: S for solo, M for mute, R for record arm, K for input monitoring and L for track selection.

The next release of Pro Tools will use two keyboard shortcuts that'll conflict with two of the Flo Tools shortcuts. Since we try to keep modifier combinations consistent, we'd be hard pressed to come up with combinations for the included letters that don't conflict with other Pro Tools commands.

Therefore, we're evaluating whether or not this listing feature is worth keeping or not. Personally, I've never used this feature but some people might feel it's indispensable for their workflow. we also don't necessarily have to ditch the feature itself but rather transform it into a single keyboard shortcut that would bring up one extra step where users can choose which filter type they'd like, press that button and then be presented with the resulting list just as they have in the past. It is an extra step but only one shortcut to remember.

So, we're asking for feedback from Flo Tools users for the following:

Do you feel that the listing feature is something you use often? Is it something you'd really like to continue being part of Flo Tools or are you indifferent? Again, we could probably implement an intermediate dialog to facilitate the feature itself in a similar way but, before we put in the time and effort, we'd like to make sure enough people truly want it to stay. Otherwise, we're all about streamlining if it makes sense.

Please feel free to respond here and we'll make note of general sentiment.

Hey slau,
I personally do use the solo, arm, track selection and others quite often. Option shift s twice quickly to unsolo everything, for example.
I would hope for these to stay, if possible.
If the feature itself must be modified slightly, as you said bringing up a list perhaps, with one shortcut, then I could work with that. But I personally would be against dropping the feature entirely.

Hi, On the system that I use that has Flo Tools installed I do use that
feature for all of those settings so would hope it would stay but if
some type of choices or dialog will be required to choose what is to be
shown that would be ok but I like the quick methods that are currently

Just so you understand, I'm not referring to the Option+Shift commands that speak what's soloed, muted, selected, armed, etc. where double-tapping unmutes, deselects, disarms, etc. I'm talking about Control+Shift plus keys that bring up dialogs where tracks are listed and you can toggle the state. In the case of Control+Shift+S, a list of soloed tracks appears in a dialog and you can select the tracks you wish to unsolo and press the Unsolo Tracks button. It's different than the Option+Shift commands which report and a double-tap toggles things off.

Now, feel free to weigh in again.

Not sure how I didn't know that was even a feature, but I didn't. Does sound interesting though. In that case whatever ends up happening I hope there is still a way to see that in some form, be it one list or several.

Hi, I do use the list commands some of the time but not all of the time
as I like finding out what tracks are armed and soloed but sometimes I
do use that dialog so I am for both features staying in but if one of
them needs to be changed I am fine with that but I would not suggest
removing them completely.  Nick Gawronski

Hey Slau, I also took a second to get clear on your initial message. Not using the list feature here either, honestly Flotools is so feature rich I feel like I forget/under use so many functions, and of course its still life changing!

It would be nice to have the feature live on in some guise but perhaps it doesn’t need to be so immediately available on a shortcut.
