All,

Does Flo Tools work for selecting and editing video tracks?  I need to edit an imported video, using the audio as guide.  I am having trouble figuring out if the video track is selected.  Has anyone edited video files in Pro Tools with or without Flo Tools commands?  As of now, my shuffle mode edits to the audio are not being applied to the video track, which then makes the video very out of sync with the video.

As far as I know, your only options for video editing are logic, reaper or final cut pro is usable. I don't think video editing is accessible in pro tools.

Logic works similar to what’s being described here in Pro tools you can edit the audio for the video but not the video itself. Reaper and Final cut are probably what you would want to look at for Video editing. I haven’t tried final cut myself but use Reaper at the moment.

Yeah, forgot to mention that if you just want to edit audio to say, sink it up with the video track (s) you can do it in logic, however for actually editing the video itself you'll need either reaper or final cut.

Editing video is certainly possible with Pro Tools|Ultimate. Just like editing multiple audio tracks, both the audio and video track must be selected and it works just like editing anything else in Pro Tools. No support for any video effects but straight edits are possible.

Does Flo Tools selection work?  Control + Shift + p or ; did not reflect a video track selection in the list of selected tracks option shift L.

Well, those are Pro Tools native commands so they have nothing to do with Flo Tools but I'd imagine that the selection should be reported correctly if you look inside the track list. While Flo Tools is much better at reporting track selection automatically, I don't think we ever tested for video track selection. Regardless, looking inside the track list with VoiceOver should reveal selections. If not, that's a bug. I'll see if I can throw a video into a session later this afternoon.

BTW, we indeed never made Flo Tools recognize video tracks for purposes of selection, deselection, etc. Will do that in the upcoming update. Cheers,
Slau

Thanks.  That's what I was hoping for.  Using Pro Tools to edit video content with audio as the guide and Flo Tools efficiency is a great utility, particularly in today's video streaming shift.  Cheers and thanks in advance to the Flo Tools team.

I am very excited about this, was not sure if there was simple editing/cutting a video within ProTools. I will probably upgrade to the ultimate as soon as I know this is more accessible.

Respectfully,

Can you edit video with regular protools (not ultimate)?

How do
you spend it?
