Hi Steve,
There are 3 factors to consider when recording plug-in automation:
1. In the Automation window itself, make sure automation is not suspended and select the "Enable Plug-in Automation" button.
2. In the Plug-in window, press the Plug-in Automation Enable button. A dialog will open. Interact with the first text area and select the parameter you wish to automate.  Stop interacting and press the Add button. Alternatively, you can double-click the parameter to add it to the righthand list without having to press the Add button. Click OK when you're done.
3. In the track that contains the plug-in, set the automation mode to Write or Latch. When you engage the transport, automation will be written.
There's a lot more to it in general but that's the basic outline.
Hope that helps,
Slau

Slau,

When you say make sure the plugin automation isn't suspended in the plugin window, I'm slightly confused. I know about doing my command+numpad 4, and making sure that with the buttons of things you can automate like volume, pan, etc, I need to be sure plugin is selected, but is that what you meant by suspending? If it's not selected, it's suspended? Or, is there something else I'm maybe not aware of. I don't normally automate plugins, although I may start doing so, if I can figure this out.

Also, is it true that there may be some parameters within certain plugs which are *not* automatable?

The very first item in the Automation window says, "suspend Automation., button." If that button is selected, automation is suspended, if it's not selected, one can write automation.

Ah, OK. I do see that now. I completely overlooked it earlier. My bad!

Thanks.
