Hi,

I'm trying to set up an experiment in PsychoPy to connect to a Tobii T60 eye tracker. I've been using builder but am completely stumped with how to get PsychoPy to speak to the eye-tracker. I've been following instructions from documentation found here and have got as far as adding the code component and copying code from the instructions, but it seems that PsychoPy does not recognise the eye tracker (I have added the .yaml info in settings) - it says that the key error is 'Eye tracker' (though I have copied this directly and have cross-checked all of the info).

I am sure that I am missing something very simple here, as this is my first time using PsychoPy. The experiment is not complicated - if I can get the eye-tracker and the flow working in sync then that would be enough; I don't need to use any fixation triggers or any other more complex components.

Many thanks!

Catherine

Hi Catherine,

If you are still having trouble with this, can you post your code and your .yaml file? I recently set up an experiment with a T120 and there were a couple of things that generated similar errors for me. I unfortunately can't remember all of them off the top of my head and didn't write them down, but I can look back at my code and see what might be throwing yours off. Also, just to check, do you have the Tobii SDK installed?

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your response! I've actually managed to sort out the problem now!

Best,

Hello Catherine,

I have similar problems as you had last year. Would it be possible to assist me in solving them? The example does not seem to be able to find the tobii libraries.

  1. Which example are you referring to, with what version of PsychoPy? Maybe send the example you are having problems with.
  2. What model of Tobii are you using?
  3. Have you updated the iohub_config being used by the script to read the iohub device settings and checked that a) the tobii device is being specified, b) the device configuration settings for the tobii device make sense for the model of tobii you are using?
  4. What Tobii SDK have you installed on the same computer that you are running psychopy on? Ensure that the path to the tobii python package can be accessed by python and that the dlls are in the system path.
Thanks,

Sol

Yes, the problem was that I installed the 64bit version of the SDK so this is solved. However, from the examples (run.py) the program skips the calibration screen. Are you able to calibrate before you run the examples? I works without calibration as well but of course not that accurate.

Thanks for your answer!

btw i work with the Tobii t50
