I know that several users had UPS Worldship integrated with PSI – I’m wondering if anyone did this with FedEx.  If so, what are the steps??

I can be done PSI to ups and fed ex.

Make a user to allow read/write access to the SQL shipping tables you want to import & export

Make an ODBC connection on the workstation to the DB using the login you created.

Note: you make have to use the ODBC32 or ODBC64 tool. I believe UPS requires ODBC64. Not sure about FedEx

In either UPS or FedEx access the the mapping feature to create and import map of the shipping data.

There are videos to help with that. If memory servers me on youtube. Tech support for UPS/FedEx can help.

UPS I use 1 Key Import. Enter the shipment number (forgot the PSI field. This works with EPMS as well)

It will import the data into UPS by entering the unique field associated with that shipment.

You can make an export mapping that executes when shipping that will write back to PSI

It's not hard but it can be a puzzle sometimes. Tech support helps me when I get stuck. They are a very good resource for help on this.

It's been a while so I could be wrong or things may have changed, but I think UPS you can do it on your own, but I think FedEx tech support has to get involved to set it up in Ship Manager.

For both we had (have with EPMS) a view that we wrote, and just have FedEx look at that with a key like Andy mentioned, can be job number or shipment or whatever you want. That way you don't have to look directly at the tables, and if something isn't correct you can just adjust the view instead of having to mess with it in Ship Manager.

You can do it one at a time, and/or you can even do a batch method so you could pull say 100 shipments at once, by job number for example, and then ShipManager just spits out all the labels automatically.

If you want to get real crazy, both UPS Worldship and FedEx Ship Manager will send data back as well, but then you have to write a program to actually do something with it, we get the data back (tracking numbers costs, ect) and put it into a table, then we have a program that reads the table and updates our system with it.

The client wants the COST to be returned from the “interface” and posted in PSI

UPS & FedEX can write back data directly to EPMS. No extra program is required.

At present we write back weight and tracking numbers.

Jeff if you have a program that does that there is not need to change.

can be done. Just map the field from UPS/FedEx to the field in PSI
