PRSSA Member attendance

Hi there!

My name is Angela! I'm the president of the PRSSA chapter at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Our chapter has struggled with member attendance and I am looking for any advice as to how we can encourage our members to increase their attendance. 

We have offered extra credit from some of the PR faculty, and this has worked but I am looking to grow the interest of our members so they begin attending for their own interest. 

Furthermore, I would love any ideas for social gatherings maybe other clubs have done successfully!

Hi Angela,

 

Increasing membership attendance / participation can be daunting. Not to fret, I will share a few tips below that work for our chapter.

 

1. Produce events in conjunction with other local chapters (see below). PRSSA Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Long Beach are hosting an event together to increase member participation and overall chapter visibility.

 

2. Get involved with other clubs and orgs on campus and invite non-PRSSA members to attend your meetings and events (free of charge) so they get a feel for what the org is all about. This is your opportunity to impress and recruit prospective members.
3. Get creative with your FUNraisers. We had our inaugurated (consented) “Hug-a-gram” for Valentine’s Day / Galentine’s Day / Day of Friendship. It’s an exciting way to create buzz and get people talking about your event.
4. Lastly, get people onboard with events they actual care about. Hosting an event is hard work, but it is rewarding when you know the majority is benefiting in some way.
