Migrating alert-manager silences to a different alert-manager instance

Hi

Can anyone here help me regarding this migration of alert-manager stored information. I've the flag 'storage-path' set to a path - At this location the nflog and silences files have been stored in my current instance. 

Now if i transfer these 2 files manually from current instance to a new instance at the same path with same configurations, will the new alert-manager be able to pick up these information and work according to these new files. 

All those active/expired silences will be ideally available in the new alert-manager? If not what else should I do to make this migration work as expected.

Hi, 

I tried transferring the files from old instance to new instance at same location. But then after a few minutes(about 10 minutes), alert-manager files that were transferred to the path got re-setted back to how the files were - before transfer. Seems the alert-manager service holds some cache data which gets filled back in the storage place. Is there any solution to this problem? 

How can we efficiently retain the silences when Alert-Manager gets transferred from one instance to another?
