prometheus operator secrets watch

Hi,

I am trying to understand what kind of secrets does prometheus-operator need to watch. We are experiencing issue roughly comparable to

    https://github.com/prometheus-operator/prometheus-operator/issues/3298

I would like to fix it using the command line parameter added by

    https://github.com/prometheus-operator/prometheus-operator/pull/3355

But I fail to understand which secrets I need to label to ensure Prometheus operator works as expected. What part of the operator functionality does need this?
