we're using node exporter on aws ec2 instances which are running nginx and apache servers.  prior to enabling node exporter, we have ~1k requests per second (rps).   after enabling node exporter, we are getting ~500 rps.

is this expected to have such a significant drop in performance?

Hey Mark,

It is hard to say anything for sure without more details. Perhaps you are experiencing resource saturation on your servers? Are you able to access that information? I know node_exporter can expose a lot of metrics, perhaps you could limit it to just the ones you care about?

Best,

Ian
