Is it necessary an exporter to monitor MongoDB Enterprise? I ask this because I know MongoDB Enterprise has an Ops Manager.

Hi Carlos,

we also have MongoDB Enterprise managed by the Ops Manager. But we still use the MongoDB Exporter from Percona to collect metrics from our MongoDB clusters.
Although the Ops Manager also shows you nice metrics about MongoDB it really helps to also have the metrics in Prometheus. Especially when your approach is to implement alerting rules as well.

For example:
We have a main dashboard for each of our micro services. If a micro service is using a dedicated MongoDB cluster we also show relevant panels (e.g. scanned objects, index usage statistics, Top commands like WriteLocks) within that dashboard directly from Prometheus.

Try it out and see what fits best to your needs. In our case Grafana und Prometheus for alerting is the way to go for us.

Best regards,
Niko
