Can support SVID certificate (from SPIFFE) verification from istio?

Hi Experts,

     In istio home page prometheus integration with istio I found it said "Prometheus does not support Istio security naming, thus skip verifying target pod certificate", so I guess Prometheus does not support SVID certification, which also means the tls communication in this "integration" page is not real "TLS" which the client/prometheus can not verify the server side SVID certificate. 

     Do you know if there is a plan in Prometheus to support SVID certificate verifying? Or anything I missed?
