Hi,
I'm running Prometheus and AlertManager on a k8s cluster using the Prometheus operator.
Prometheus obviously needs a persistent volume to store its data.
What about AlertManager? Must it also use a persistent volume? What are the consequences of using emptyDirs as volumes for AlertManager?

Thanks

The alertmanager stores a few things locally, like silences. If you were to lose the storage for it on all nodes at the same time, all silences would vanish.

It would probably be best to configure it with a more permanent storage, but if you don't care that much about your silences, you could use an emptyDir.
