Do you use Unit testing for alerts?

Hi
For a few alerts I implemented unit tests.
The tests were successful (there are easy examples to follow in blogs),
but i did not continue because we are far less advanced with automation.
Do you use Unit testing for alerts? Why? Please describe your setup and
use case.
