Hi all,

I am going to study spheres' behaviour under triaxial compression conditions. The spheres are confined at different directions by plates generated with box bodies. The forces are imposed on the plate boxes, representing stress boundary conditions.

The problem is how to ignore the contacts between boxes. Note that the boxes are subject to specific forces instead of displacements so the interactions with other neighbour boxes can affect boxes' movement.

Thank you!
Jingjing

Jinjing,

Please specify how you intend to solve this problem with Chrono. In other words, which Chrono module you plan on using.

In general, you can disable interaction through contact between any two bodies by placing their collision models in specific collision families (see ChCollisionModel::SetFamily) and then disabling collisions with a particular family (see ChCollisionModel:: DisallowCollisionsWith).  In your case, for each of your boxes, you can set the facility to 1 (for example) and then disallow collisions with family 1.
