Hello,

I would like to know if in the Vehicle module, it would be possible to control the angle of each wheel.  Also, would it be possible to have two steering axles (front and rear) on the same vehicle.

Thanks !

David

Hi David,

I assume you mean controlling the wheel steering angle, correct?  If yes, that is not easily done, except through a somewhat convoluted way where you implement a custom steering mechanism that can actuate the left and right suspension tierods independently.  Could you please elaborate on what exactly you are trying to do?

Chrono::Vehicle does support multiple steered axles.  You can do that using a single steering mechanism connected to multiple axles or else multiple steering mechanisms, one per steerable axle (see for example the MAN 10t truck model).

I am looking to model a holonomic vehicle that can be individually controlled by direct wheel action in angle and torque.
Also, I will start with individual control of each axis keeping the existing geometries. According to your answer, it would be possible to do it with the MAN 10t truck model example.
So I will explore this possibility before digging deeper into the holonomic model.

Thank you very much for your comments which, as usual, are always a great help.
