DEM-Engine requirements

Hi, 

When using DEM-engine on a supercomputer cluster, what is the recommended number of compute nodes, and total number of MPI tasks that I should request to fully take advantage of 2GPU units?

Hi Mohammad,

You should request one compute node. This will minimize the communication cost between GPUs. Using GPUs across different compute nodes will have performance impacts and this effect is universally applicable.

The number of MPI tasks should not matter too much for DEME. You can try 1 or 2 to see if it makes a difference in your system. It should not and you can always fall back to 1 if this is the case.
